Ki Massage

What is the difference between Ki Massage and any other massage?

The word Ki means Life Force or energy and is the basic energy which is keeping us alive, grows the grass in the fields and the hair on our head and keeps the tides and planets in harmony.

Tension, stress and pressure of modern living all combine to diminish the flow of energy in us and we become rigid, as if constantly physically braced to withstand a blow. Ki Massage is designed to break down this resistance, to take the stress out of every muscle in turn so that the body becomes fluid and the energy is capable of flowing freely throughout the person again. There is a ‘spill over’ of energy from the therapist that begins to affect the other person positively.

Massage is the art of manipulating the tissues of the body and Ki Massage re-establishes massage as part of a holistic approach to life.

Ki Massage is based on energy being transferred through the sense of touch. Touch is synonymous with caring and this enhances the effect of treatments. As well as being extremely relaxing, the flow of Ki from the therapist benefits the whole mental outlook of the patient and extends into their life as a whole by allowing the Ki to flow into everyday situations. It deals with the root of the stress of which physical tightness and tension are only symptoms.

  • Massage gives you a blood change, eliminating stagnant blood even from areas not normally reached by exercise.
  • It increases the blood flow in the muscles and mimics the effect of exercise.
  • It helps prevent and break down deposits of waste products which cause many ailments by choking the system and reducing suppleness.
  • It helps fat deposits to break down while stimulating the formation of firm tissue.
  • It can relax a person totally, increasing their energy and concentration.
  • It promotes digestion of food and relaxes the heart and other internal organs.
  • It improves breathing, removing tightness from the ribcage and diaphragm.
  • It speeds recovery after exercise and disperses fatigue toxins.
  • It powerfully promotes lymphatic drainage.

During a Ki Massage Therapy session, the therapist actually causes the energy to flow from their hands at will but they also have to be able to relax the patient to the required level, otherwise the person cannot receive the flow. Thus, it may take one or many sessions but its value is immense, as when the energy flows into the body it’s like charging a battery.

There is an immediate feeling of well-being and energy, even euphoria. Afterwards there is a feeling of looseness in the body and movement can appear almost effortless.

Yet there is a level far beyond this where the patient’s body seems to be filled with and merge with the energy. After a few sessions it is most likely that the patient, by relaxing, will be able to experience this state on their own and the massage and the Ki Massage therapist will have fulfilled their purpose. One of the greatest services one human being can provide for another is be a channel through which the energy flows. There is a ‘spill over’ of energy from the therapist that begins to affect the other person positively.
